[VIDEO] RCNennox ESS-ONE Review

What I like about this sound system is that it is not complicated – it’s pretty simple actually (you don’t need additional channels in your transmitter to operate it) and it's easy to use. It’s a "plug & play” (with deans!) and calibration literally takes 2 minutes.

When you turn ESS-ONE on for the first time, it already starts to rev its engine sounds but you can easily change it by choosing different sounds from the Sense Innovations app (from Volvo FH16 to Nissan Silvia), that you can install on your computer. Fun fact – Sense Innovations recently asked on their Facebook profile, what sounds to add, so make sure you let them know. (Or you can always inform ATees of what you'd like, and they can feed that information back to Sense Hobby).

The ESS-ONE is not big by any means (93,5 x 48 x 30,5mm), and it fits in the original space for the battery in the Wraith (or between the front shocks mount in the SCX10). It has a "low voltage alarm”, so it’ll let you know when you’re running out of juice. We didn’t have a chance to drive with it much yet, but after one RC adventure, I think I used about 10% more battery than usual (with the ESS-ONE on for the whole time). The only downfall is that it is not waterproof, but I’m already thinking how to solve that.

If you are looking for an easy to operate sound system – ESS-ONE is perfect for you. I wanted to test it for some time and had pretty high expectations – I’m happy to say that I’m not disapointed. Maybe, with time, I’m going to look for a more complicated system but for now – I don’t need anything more to have fun!
