[Video] New Axial Max-D Monster Truck
Axial has been known in the past decade to build exceptionaly good Crawlers and Rock Racers inspiring endless fun and adventure. But now they have started to evolve and build a Monster Jam 4WD straight axle truck based on the MAX-D that has won 11 Monster Jam World Finals Championships. Axial have designed a very detailed body from the colour down to the last chrome spike. The chassis is built for maximum strength and an extremely detailed appearance to replicate the real MAX-D as close as possible.
SMT10™ has a robust tube frame chassis very similar to the modern monster truck. The wheels are some massive 2.2BKT Monster Jam tires and to turn the steering to point the wheels in the right direction they have designed a new heavy duty hydraulic ram style steering link.
They have used an AR60 OCP-Axle with trailing/leading arm 4-linked suspension and additional shock mounting positions to gives you the best performance for any terrain with the look of a real 1:1 sized vehicle.
For the transmission they have redesigned a new dual slipper clutch system it uses a pad on each side of the spur gear for added surface area and holding power. For the gear mesh they have used a stronger 32P gearing for high torque applications and to distribute the power to the axle they used a WB8 HD Driveshaft with an updated design to allow a larger crosspin for added strength.
It also has multiple shock mounting positions for additional suspension tuning options. At the rear there is a sway bar system like the yeti for added stability and the chassis design allows you to add an optional sway bar to the front if you wish.
To protect your receiver it has a dust and waterproof receiver box and it also has an easy access battery tray just remove one pin to change battery and it also has height adjustment for making room to fit most standard sized 2S and 3S LiPo battery packs.
The electronics that will come with this RTR kit are the waterproof AE-5 ESC 3S LiPo capable coupled with their 27T Motor. To move the steering they used a Water Resistant metal gear Tactic servo with a massive 151oz of torque for turning power. To control this monster they used the Tactic 2.4GHz TTX300 3-channel radio and a Tactic TR325 2.4GHz receiver.
