CYS Cooling Shell Brushless Motor Metal Gear Servo

The part numbers of this series all start with BLS, which stands for brushless. What's the difference between servos for brushed and brushless motors? The answer is actually related to the difference between the two types of motors. In one sentence, it's the mechanism that are used for commutation is different. For brushless servo motors, the construction of the iron core is turned inside out. The rotor becomes a permanent magnet, and the stator becomes a wound iron core. The commutation for these motors is thus done electronically within the drive, which makes brushless servo drives more complicated and possibly more expensive.

Take the CYS-BLS9130L servo as an example. Let's check out the following specifications for this servo together:

  • Operating Voltage:6.0-7.4V
  • Operating Speed(6.0V):0.14sec/60°
  • Operating Speed(7.4V):0.11sec/60°
  • Stall Torque(6.0V):26kg.
  • Stall Torque(7.4V):30kg.
  • Running Current(6.0V):120mA
  • Running Current(7.4V):150mA
  • Idle Current(6.0V):20mA
  • Idle Current(7.4V):20mA
With only 130 grams in weight and 40x20x41.4mm dimension, you can use it on any 1/10th scale models. Its response time is fast and it's a quiet servo. At a price around $80, it's one of the few flawless servos you could ever meet.
