Kyosho TF7 4WD Electric Touring Car

The new car is based on a new chassis that features a floating servo and a floating battery mount as well, for better asymmetrical flexing of the chassis. Also the carbon fiber chassis plate is mounted exactly on the center-line, making the chassis to be completely symmetrical and chassis flex much more predictable. As a result, the handling becomes more responsive and predictable. The carbon shock towers are 3.5mm in thickness that provides a solid, durable mount for the updated shocks. The lower chassis plate is milled from 2.25mm carbon fiber, and the upper plate is 2mm milled carbon.

The shorter dampers feature the famous “Velvet” coating and they include machined aluminum and molded spring perches. After extensive testing, they found that shortening the shocks by 2mm could lead to the best handling performance for both asphalt and carpet racing.

The suspension arms, C-hubs and steering knuckles are made through a special molding process that infuses molded composite with long fiber stands into these components. This could allow for an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio in comparison to machined plastic or aluminum parts. The aluminum mounts use molded eccentric inserts to tailor the toe angle and suspension widths. Also the suspension mounts can be shimmed to alter the dive and squat geometry.

The belt drive of the TF7 used a super-precise Panaracer 64P spur gear, machined aluminum, Velvet coated drive pulleys and a lightweight gear differential. The diff housing features an O-ring seal, and two O-rings sealing each outdrive. The rear drive system includes lightweight aluminum outdrives and aluminum driveshafts with pucks that fit over the dogbone end of the driveshaft and allow it to smoothly move within the slotted outdrive.
