ATees X Monster Energy At Formula E Hong Kong 2017

For three consecutive days during the 2017 Formula E Hong Kong race series hundreds of car fans went through the track ATees set up at the at the Monster Energy booth. It was an exciting event with lots of interests in our RC cars. We had many people try RC crawling for the first time! We happily explained what RC crawling means and how to go through the obstacle course. The line was non-stop for Saturday and Sunday, at some point people had to wait 45 mins to get to the front of the line. This Formula E crowd was a curious bunch and they were hungry for car actions! The young, old, men, women, parents, kids, it didn't matter who. They saw the setup and they wanted to have a go. Safe to say we successfully "poisoned" the minds of many throughout the event on how much fun you can have with these trucks. I could tell there were many curious people who have never seen or heard about RC crawling before.

One of the highlights at the Monster Energy booth during the 2017 Formula E Hong Kong was the ATees obstacle course. We set up a U-shape track wide enough for the bigger stance Traction Hobby 1/8 crawlers.

TRACTION HOBBY 1/8 Crawlers

We brought our the 1/8 Cragsman and its predecessor 1/8 Founder to the event. Out of all the available rigs we picked this one and it worked out perfect. The Monster Energy theme went really well with the trucks, with the top on and off with the cage exposed. The size was perfect. It had a menacing presence. The truck was tough and we were confident to let kids as young as 4 years old (who have never driven a crawler before) play with them. I can't remember how many times people had them flying across the stage or backed up from the start gate and hit one of the Monster girls at the front of the queue and fell on the floor. It wouldn't have been so successful without these trucks!

The DJs directly next to us were amazing and provided music to the entire Formula E Village. One thing we found out was the new Sense Hobby ESS Dual sound system was amazing and works much better than the V1 in noisy situations. With the loud music in the background we could hear clearly the sound coming from the Dual speakers, but not from the V1 sound module.

Because of the Formula E event, companies who were present themed their booth around car racing. While most booths had race car games on TV, we provided something unique where people could actually touch the car and is a real object. The experience you get from playing something real VS playing TV games is very different. In today's digital age it's not common to have anything real anymore. The booth attracted so many kids and families this year despite the fact that Monster Energy is known to attract adults (mostly men of course). The photos say it all!

Events like this give me hope that RC is not going away anytime soon. I am a firm believer in the hobby as there are many valuable things one can get from it. The interactions with people, learning the mechanics of building something you can control and learning how to be patient when you build them. So many great things all packaged into one hobby, and on top its just fun to drive them.
