The Science of Thriving in the Malvern Hills

The UK Boom crew recently attended an event hosted by Land Rover Monthly Magazine, the premier global magazine for Land Rover enthusiasts. The event occurred over the weekend at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern, near the renowned Malvern Hills and the Morgan Car factory.

Peter Gray, Paul Shevlin, and Dave Barton represented Boom Racing as brand ambassadors, showcasing their BRX02 builds. Our display was strategically positioned between the prestigious Dunsfold Collection and the Land Rover Monthly gazebo, providing excellent company throughout the event.

During the two-day event, Paul Shevlin was honoured to participate in the main show ring alongside the Series II owners’ group. He presented his Fred Dibnah build to the audience and drove it around the arena during an interview. Meanwhile, the rest of our team engaged in numerous adventures with their rigs, utilizing the new Scaletra App to map the entire site.

We enjoyed a remarkable experience with the Camel Trophy crew and were invited to their 45th anniversary celebrations. The event allowed us to witness incredible restoration projects, 1:1 competition rigs, and historic vehicles that will inspire future builds. The positive reception from the attendees underscored their appreciation for our brand, passion for the hobby, and dedication to our builds.

Our brand ethos emphasizes community and involvement in something greater than oneself. Throughout the weekend, we interacted with visitors from the UK Scaler Nationals, BRX owners, and aspiring enthusiasts. We provided guidance on the build process, assisted in selecting appropriate electronics, and emphasized the joy of the entire process.

We are eager to see the finished results of their builds and look forward to sharing trails with them soon. The weekend concluded with Boom Racing presenting a BRX02 Series III 109 kit to Martin Domoney, the magazine’s editor, who plans to document the build in a series of articles and join us at future events, including the upcoming UK Scaler Nationals in October.
