3 Things To Upgrade First On Your Vaterra Twin Hammers

The Vaterra Twin Hammers is a great little vehicle, but it can definitely use some help to get it running the way you want it. Here's just a few upgrades we'd recommend getting first, but of course, tailor the upgrades based on what sort of driving you do, how you do it, and when things break (Of course, we made this list so that you don't have to wait until things break)! So let's get started.

1. Servo

We felt it was important to note that the stock servo was not nearly as powerful as we would've liked. Even though it's waterproof, the stock servo held its center very poorly and was weak when it came to crawling or trailing. We recommend CYS servos as they are incredibly durable, strong, and affordable. The one listed here has a stall torque of 30kg at 7.4v, way more than enough to get you through a tough day of crawling and trailing!

2. Motor/ESC

By no means is the motor and ESC combo bad, but it's not going to win you any awards. Depending on what you want to focus on, your best bet is to upgrade the ESC and Motor with something with a bit more kick. The Motor at 15T isn't a lot to behold, and the gearing doesn't allow for high speeds. The ESC has slight delays when you're flicking around the throttle which makes for an unhappy time. For crawling, we'd go with Tekin's FXR ESC/35T Brushed Combo for exceptional torque and quick responses.

3. Front End Steering

When crawling, you want the weight up front, and you want it to be durable. With the stock battery being placed in the rear, you're not leaving a lot of weight up on the nose, unless you change it out with an upright shock set-up and a battery plate for the front. Instead, go with an aluminum upgrade to add some weight and durability to the front of your Twin Hammer.
